What’s On Your Plate, M8?

What’s On Your Plate, M8? is a brand new eating series that explores the power of connection.

My intention grew from observing many communities experiencing disconnection, loneliness and struggle to juggle all the plates they are carrying.

I wanted to create a third space that connect people outside of the home, for them to (un)learn, make sense, and experience the power of (re)connection through embodied practices and texture constellations.

The more I sat in overthinking my idea, the more I lost my self-confidence and the spark dimmed low. It felt like a piece of the puzzle was missing, and I couldn’t find it out by thinking about it. I decided to pause it, make the space and deepen my artistic practice.

During that time, my creative practice was moving through a regenerative process of expansion and renewal.

I needed to be patient with myself and my idea, as I was finding the missing piece: the constellation of connection. Each time I kept doubting myself, I felt supported by the words of Bell Hooks stirring in my gut, “Conversation is the best mode of learning”, her echo anchored me and dissolved the doubts that were creeping in and out.

The deeper I meditated with the idea, the more I felt Nando’s in my body. Yes, hold the first one at Nando’s.

You might be thinking, why Nando’s? Well, it’s got a soft spot for peri peri my heart. I’ve received life-changing support sitting in Nando’s, and most of my life long friendships have been sealed with peri peri vibes.

Food isn’t just a source of nourishment, it’s a deep source of inspiration and portal into connection.

It was time to put out the communal call, and invite people into the space.

Thank you to the wonderful folks who asked for support, shared their wisdom with us, co-created our texture constellation and held the space together

We all left with a heart and belly-full - new friendships sealed, ideas emerging, and everyone left with a sense of feeling connected to something bigger than themselves. 💗

A massive big up to Shannan, Kai, Aisha, Ivana and Sandra at the Clink Street, London Bridge Nando’s. Thank you for a warm welcome into the space, making us feel comfortable and serving us with love, care and respect for our space.

Big up Nando's for supporting our first gathering🙏🏽🧡.
